Closing the Auto-Research Loop: An AI Co-Scientist for Production Search Ranking

The article introduces the AI Co-Scientist framework, which integrates LLM agents with cloud-compute capabilities to enhance the production search-ranking system for an online travel platform. Utilizing a hybrid architecture of single-LLM and multi-LLM consensus (including models like GPT-5.2, Gemini Pro 3, and Claude Opus 4.5), the system achieved a cumulative offline performance improvement of +0.201% over human-designed baselines in a week. This framework highlights the potential of LLMs to bridge gaps in interdisciplinary applications, suggesting valuable insights for practitioners in optimizing ranking algorithms through automated experimentation and idea generation.
