Thinking Outside the [Chat]Box: Bridging Computer Science and Industrial Design for Cognitive-Inclusive Generative AI
The article presents a study on enhancing cognitive accessibility in Generative AI interfaces beyond traditional chatbox formats. Through a cross-disciplinary co-design challenge, Computer Science and Industrial Design students developed interface concepts that address cognitive demands by emphasizing structural and experiential scaffolding, such as proactive prompting and multimodal interactions. This dual-layer scaffolding framework aims to improve user experience for individuals with intellectual disabilities, highlighting the need for more versatile and user-friendly AI interaction models.
