SpheriCity: Designing Trustworthy Conversational AI for Sustainability Decision Support

SpheriCity is a conversational AI prototype designed to enhance knowledge synthesis from city-level circularity assessment reports for sustainability decision-making. It addresses challenges of trust and interpretability in large language models by emphasizing provenance, structured synthesis, and user interaction scaffolds. The system was evaluated by sustainability experts who highlighted the importance of transparent sourcing and contextual explanations in building trust and usefulness for high-stakes sustainability contexts.
