AI Receptivity or AI Adoption Breadth? A Tool-Specific Reanalysis of the Lower-Literacy/Higher-Usage Link
The article reanalyzes the relationship between AI literacy and AI usage, revealing that lower AI literacy does not predict greater receptivity to AI in general but rather indicates a broader adoption of non-text AI tools. The study employs various statistical models, including OLS and logit specifications, to demonstrate that while AI literacy negatively correlates with non-text AI adoption (β = -0.377, p < .001), it does not significantly affect text AI usage (β = -0.090, p = .387). This nuanced understanding is crucial for practitioners, as it highlights the need to differentiate between types of AI tools when considering user engagement and literacy impacts.
