MARIC: Multi-Agent Reasoning for Image Classification

The paper introduces MARIC (Multi-Agent Reasoning for Image Classification), a novel framework that reformulates image classification into a collaborative process involving multiple agents. It employs an Outliner Agent for global theme analysis and three Aspect Agents for detailed visual dimension extraction, culminating in a Reasoning Agent that synthesizes these outputs. Experiments show that MARIC significantly outperforms existing models on four diverse image classification benchmarks, offering a more interpretable and efficient approach compared to traditional parameter-heavy models and single-pass VLMs.
