Teaching Values to Machines: Simulating Human-Like Behavior in LLMs
The paper presents a study on instilling human-like value structures in Large Language Models (LLMs) using psychological value theory, demonstrating their ability to align with human behavior through extensive experimentation with over 5 million questions. The findings indicate that value-prompted LLMs show strong agreement with human value structures, suggesting that integrating human value distributions can enhance simulations of human behavior. This research is significant for practitioners as it offers a method to create LLMs that better reflect human values, which can improve their application in socially sensitive contexts.
