QIAS 2026: Overview of the Shared Task on Islamic Inheritance Reasoning

The QIAS 2026 shared task, part of the OSACT7 Workshop at LREC 2026, evaluates large language models' capabilities in Islamic inheritance reasoning using the MAWARITH benchmark, which includes 12,500 annotated Arabic inheritance cases. The task requires models to perform comprehensive end-to-end reasoning, from identifying heirs to calculating shares, assessed via the MIR-E metric across multiple reasoning stages. The findings highlight the complexity of legal interpretation and structured numerical reasoning in this domain, indicating significant challenges for current LLMs.
