Neuro-Symbolic Agents for Regulated Process Automation: Challenges and Research Agenda
The article presents a new research agenda focused on integrating neuro-symbolic agents into regulated process automation, emphasizing the importance of incorporating symbolic structures such as regulations and compliance constraints into the agents' architecture. It introduces the concept of "compliance-by-construction" to prevent control-flow violations while maintaining guardrails for semantic error detection. This approach highlights a set of neuro-symbolic research challenges that, if addressed, could significantly enhance the reliability and effectiveness of LLM-based agents in judgment-intensive quality management processes within regulated industries.
