Humor Style Drives Laughter, Topic Shapes Acceptability: Evaluating Bilingual Personal and Political Robot-Delivered AI Jokes
This study evaluates the impact of humor style and joke content on the reception of robot-delivered AI jokes in bilingual settings. It identifies four humor types—Affiliative, Self-Enhancing, Aggressive, and Self-Defeating—and finds that Aggressive and Affiliative humor are perceived as funnier, while person-related jokes are deemed more appropriate than political ones. These insights are crucial for practitioners in human-robot interaction, as they highlight the importance of tailoring humor delivery to enhance engagement and social acceptance in diverse linguistic contexts.
