CogniFold: Always-On Proactive Memory via Cognitive Folding

CogniFold is a brain-inspired memory architecture designed for autonomous agents, enabling "always-on" proactive memory that continuously organizes fragmented event streams into self-emerging cognitive structures. It extends Complementary Learning Systems theory by incorporating a third layer for intentional control, allowing for dynamic graph-topology self-organization of memory. Evaluated with CogEval-Bench, CogniFold demonstrates superior performance in generating cognitive structures and robust results across eight downstream benchmarks, making it significant for practitioners developing advanced memory systems in AI.
