Same-Origin Policy for Agentic Browsers

This article introduces SOPBench, a benchmark designed to evaluate same-origin policy (SOP) violations in agentic browsers, which integrate autonomous AI agents for executing web tasks via natural language. The study reveals that existing agentic browsers often breach SOP, prompting the development of SOPGuard, an enforcement mechanism implemented in the open-source BrowserOS. SOPGuard effectively maintains SOP compliance with minimal runtime overhead, addressing significant security concerns for developers working with agentic browser architectures.
