Creative Integration: A Decidable Criterion of Creativity
The paper proposes a decidable criterion for assessing creative integration (CI) based on the principle of compression, specifically focusing on the reduction in description length when resolving conflicts between two entities (A and B). The authors introduce a framework utilizing four binary gates to validate CI through computational checks and robust testing against negatives, rather than relying on human judgment. This work provides a foundational tool for distinguishing genuine creativity from mere novelty, which is significant for AI practitioners interested in modeling creativity and evaluating the effectiveness of generative systems.
